Broken Hearts

Aslan from The Chronicles of Narnia: “Children, you are not yet so happy as I mean you to be.”

We are not yet as happy as God means us to be. There is Heaven. But in the meantime, what do I do with my broken pieces?

Pastor Levis Luskos quoted Aslan as I watched Him today and then encouraged, “Bring your emotional upheaval to Jesus.” Isaiah 53:4 “Surely, He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows.” Jesus did this at the cross, He carried not only our sins but our grief and sorrows. “The cross is not just about spiritual cleansing, but emotional healing” (Luskos, 2024). He can carry all our tough feelings and broken pieces whether sadness, sorrow, rejection, embarrassment, hurt, feeling not enough, etc.

What are you feeling today? I’m honestly feeling sad, regretful for time lost. I don’t want to get up from the couch, I’m numb. I’m hurting for others in their great loss, too. I grieve today. But we don’t have to face it alone: Jesus.

I’m thankful to have a body of believers, especially when I’m hurting. WE have been blessed by Jesus and His love for us. He has us. Pastor Luskos stated, “He wants us to feel peace.” I want to feel peace and I have had that experience in the past when I was losing a loved one. It was beautiful and a moment of connection to God, peace that I’ll never forget. I was totally broken and scared, and God held me. I am thankful for this memory of how total dependence on God and turning completely to Him helped and healed my broken heart. I wished I could always be in that sweet, sweet spot.

“The cross is the death of death. When your hearts hurt, reach your hand for Him. He can bring you peace for your bad feelings” (2024). And, know your wounds can help others per Luskos, too.

Praying for God’s peace for you today in whatever tough feeling you are feeling. Praying you’ll turn to him in your pain or loss or hurt or rejection or other tough feeling. He has you. He loves you. He can help you feel whole.
