“Tebow Time”

We must be intentional in our relationships, who we choose to be with, and how we personally choose to be and to act before we meet our future mates. “Before you meet your future spouse, live your life in such a way to honor your wife,” per Tim Tebow, professional baseball player. On Valentines’ Day, the Tebows were guests of Pastor Levi Luskos at Fresh Life Church (2-14-2021). Tebow continued by asking the question, “What story do you want to share with your future family?” That was a great question as he shared of his special courtship and engagement to his wife, 2017 Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters. Per The Christian Post (2019), “Tebow has been outspoken throughout his college and professional sports career about his celibacy and waiting until marriage to have sex. And now, despite being engaged to Miss Universe 2017, the successful athlete says he’s still saving himself for that special day and revealed Nel-Peters is, too.”

His advice, while you are waiting to meet your future spouse, was to pursue God. “Don’t sit on the sidelines,” he encouraged, “but prepare yourself for what he’s called you to and for your future.” Tebow has a heart for kids with special needs. He stated they are not “throw-aways,” especially after having met a child in the Philippines who was born with a deformity. Miss Universe has a sister with special needs. “God brought them together” and they plan “A Night to Shine” for every Valentines’ Day for people with special needs. Per Tim Tebow, “When we give, we get. Trust God and give him your time and your abilities.” Also, “a great relationship is not what you have in common” (Tebow-sports, Demi-pageants), “but what you have in purpose” (special love for special needs).

To honor God and your future relationships, Tebow said to “Be intentional in your life, be careful in what you watch, see, and do as a way of honoring your future spouse.” For example, he explained that Jesus went so far out of His way to show His love for us, to treasure us. The Gospel! Live your life to honor God.

“Choose people who have your best interests at heart and that speak life into you” [small group of people]. Tebow quoted Proverbs 13:20: “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” He continued, “Be wise in relationships and speak life into others…that’s a passion. So many people and social media will tell you how to feel, look, and dress. Most aren’t right. There’s only one opinion to value above all else: Jesus Christ.” Psalm 139:14. “Trust God in how he’s made you, He didn’t make a mistake in you. Don’t listen to those other voices that say you should look this way or be this way of do this or that. Pursue God.” Jeremiah 29:11
