Star Wars:  You Are Not Alone (spoiler alert)

Star Wars was an amazing visual picture of the story of Christ, of love and sacrifice.  The heroine, Rey, was asked a question that she couldn’t answer. Who is your family?  She did not know, she saw herself as a no one, an orphan.  But, there was a power around her that invited her to join.  It was a power for the good side, or she might be tempted to the dark side.  She had a choice to make, as did Kylo Ren.  Kylo, initially, chose the dark side, but in a moment of loss, he realized that a greater power was calling him to change, to be transformed.  He offered his life as a sacrifice so Rey could live as a member of a family on the good side.  She was no longer alone.  One of the big messages of the latest Star Wars films was that you are not alone.  Epic battles raged and paralleled one another.  One battle was a temporal one, with Rey at the center.  Another battle was the physical one, against evil that involved our favorite Wookie and other characters from the Rebellion (the good side) fighting for freedom.

Aren’t we all fighting for freedom?  Freedom from fear…..or of being alone, which is a temporal battle.  Then, we also seek freedom from this world of evil and busyness that claims our attention from the important things of life.  That’s a physical battle.  The two intertwine and seek to dominate our minds and lives.  Being transformed means surrendering our fate to a greater power and standing together in spiritual and uplifting relationships.  You are never alone.  You can count on the greatest Force, our God, and be a member of His family.  That is the  greatest ending (or, is it a beginning?).
