Be free!

This week in Faithkidz, we talked about sin using the Parable of the Weeds in Matthew 13 from our Bible Study Farmers and Fishers.  Last week, the Fatihkidz message was on soft hearts (soils), receiving the SEED (message of Jesus).  This week really lined up with the pastor’s sermon who discussed the damage of sin and the need to repent, forsake sins, and follow Him.  He will give you a “new beginning”, set you free.

Older kids visibly viewed what the message of Jesus could do in our hearts as we turn from sin and accept him.  Dye was initially used (as representative of sin).  The dye was placed in a clear cup of water, which represented our hearts.  The darkness covered the water (hearts), but when the message of Jesus entered into the “heart” and we prayed forgiveness, the water became clear and white again thanks to the blood of Jesus. This chemical reaction (baking soda and bleach) was a visual representation of how the blood of Christ sets us free from sin and death.  Jesus in Matthew 13 explained in the Parable of the Weeds:  He answered, “The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one,  and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.”

We can see Jesus in Heaven one day when we repent, turn from sin, and follow Him.

Younger kids, K-1, got to see how weeds (or sins) can cover a person up, just like weeds in a garden.  But Jesus and forgiveness sets us free.  We didn’t cover a person in weeds, but green crepe paper, then the “littles” popped bubbles of sin. We sent the younger ones home with bubbles.  The truth from John 3:16 that we learned was that Jesus died on the cross for our sins.  We can trust and follow Jesus, and ask forgiveness for our sins.

The memory verse this week and moving forward is:  James 1:22-Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

And, we can have new beginnings as we read the Bible (truths), and follow Jesus completely.  Answer the call in your heart to be free.  Let His seed (message of Jesus) grow in you.
