The “buzz” term in leadership these days is servant-leader. What is this type of leadership? Robert Greenleef coined the term servant-leader in the 70’s and stated ” A servant-leader focuses primarily on the growth and well-being of people and communities,” rather than being the dominant person at the top of the ladder; He or she…..”shares power, puts the needs of others first and helps people develop and perform as highly as possible.” Basically, a servant-leader helps people grow by seeing their gifts and helping people develop by seeing and meeting their needs.
Jesus was a servant-leader. He cared for our well-being and helped transform people in meeting their needs. What need to do you have today? Max Lucado said, “If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent an educator. If our greatest need had been technology, God would have sent us a scientist. If our greatest need had been money, God would have sent us an economist. But since our greatest need was forgiveness, God sent us a Savior.”
Being intentionally in the light, means reflecting that light to others as we consider WWJD. We are to extend love and grace in Christian relationships, which can be hard in this world today considering the news or daily interactions. 1 John 2:9-10 states, “Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness. 10 Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble.” Share SERVANT-LOVE to others by graciously pointing out gifts, not faults, and by showing mercy and love to others aspiring to meet needs and see others reach their full potential in relationship with Christ.
