The Lion King!!! Amazing. I thought of the King’s sacrifice…….JESUS….the whole movie. The king sacrificed His life, so you wouldn’t lose yours. “A true King searches for what he can give, not take.”. Scar, representative of evil recommended hiding sin in the darkness, and running. He encouraged feeding the flesh. As Scar put it, “there’s no one to challenge me”(as in challenging him to do the right thing). “I can take what I want and feast.”. The young son was told by the wise primate “you don’t know who you are. Take your place as His son/daughter. He is alive in you.”. Then, Simba saw the image of His father, an image that he bore as a son and true heir. “Your father is waiting for you. He lives in you. He has never left you and he never will.” One of my favorite lines is “a true King’s power is his compassion.“. May we all strive for compassion today.
One last note on Simba. In the end, as he’s battling scar, I thought…..the final battle is over his heart (our hearts). The true King wins in the end. A friend stated that the last scene reminded her of a study on Revelation, and she envisioned the return of Jesus-VICTORIOUS FOREVER.
